Labral tear

The labrum is the cushioning cartilage that surrounds the edge of the hip joint and acts as a buffer when the thigh bone is moved into positions that bring it closer to the pelvic bone. Tears of the labrum are often seen in MRI scans of patients with no pain in their hip region, so it’s important to look for causes of pain before assuming that the labrum is the cause.
